Description:
The Hand (Khamsa), particularly the open right hand, is a sign of protection that also represents blessings, power and strength, and is seen as potent in deflecting the evil eye. Early use of the hamsa has been traced to ancient Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) as well as ancient Carthage[8] (modern day Tunisia) and ancient Morocco. The image of the open right hand is seen in Mesopotamian artifacts in the amulets of the goddess Inanna or Ishtar.[2] Other symbols of divine protection based around the hand include the Hand-of-Venus (or Aphrodite), the Hand-of-Mary, that was used to protect women from the evil eye and/or boost fertility and lactation, promote healthy pregnancies and strengthen the weak. In Vedic philosophy Soham or Sohum is a Hindu mantra, meaning “I am She/He/That” in Sanskrit. The mantra is also inverted from so ‘ham to ham + sa. The combination of so ‘ham hamsah has also been interpreted as “I myself am the Swan”, where the swan symbolizes the Atman - that refers to the (universal) Self or self-existent essence of human beings, as distinct from ego (Ahamkara), mind (Citta) and embodied existence (Prak?ti). An etymology of ha?sa "swan, goose" as from aha? sa "I am that" is found in the 14th century commentary on the Vedas by Sayana who was a Sanskrit Mimamsa scholar and an influential commentator on the Vedas. Angel wings have multiple meanings, but all of them are closely related to purity, love, spirituality, strength, courage, protection and harmony. They bring happiness, hope, and faith. Angel wings also symbolize freedom, creative energy, and the essence of human spirit. Homo Angelicum depicts the unity of human represented by 7 chakras and sacred lotus, and angelic qualities represented by angel wings. Human nature is quintessential love, inherent to angelic realm and Creation as a whole.
