This cajon is the wooden acoustic percussion instrument you sit on and play with your hands (pronounced "kah-hone"). It’s sometimes called a beatbox or box drum. The Meinl Percussion Compact Jam Cajon with snares is made in Europe with 100% Baltic birch for full, resonant bass notes and crisp slap tones. Baltic birch is special because of its naturally “EQ’d” tone with punchy low notes, balanced highs and great projection. This wood species is also used extensively in high-end drum set construction for players serious about sound. Inside are two sets of coiled steel snare wires fitted against the playing surface. These are the same type of snares found on snare drums, and they give you a crisp tone. A sound port on the rear helps develop bass tone and is a perfect microphone spot. Non-slip silicone feet allow the body to resonate to its fullest while providing stability. This instrument is ideal for acoustic gigs when a full drum kit cannot be used, and its compact size is designed to be travel friendly. Measuring 10 1/4" wide x 15" tall x 10 1/4" deep, the Jam Cajon is made for easy transport and straightforward use so that anyone can sit down and play this instrument, regardless of skill level or age.
