The protector is heavy weight, not like a thin clear tablecloth, it won't easily slide off. DOES THIS PROTECTOR AGAINST HEAT OR IS IT HEAT RESISTANT? Yes, maximum heat resistant up to 176°F/80°C, it can tolerate warm plates & cup. A placemat on top of it is recommended for hot plates. DOES THE PLASTIC LEAVE MARKS OR RUINS THE FINISH OF WOODEN TABLES? The CLEAR pad is a bit sticky, if your table is Brand New or just repainted, for security, please cover the CLEAR pad on top of a table cloth or choose FROSTED one by instead, because the painting of a brand new top may not dry enough and it may stick to the item. EASY TO CUT TO FIT Please follow below steps to cut. 1. 0.2 ~ 0.5 inch extra tolerance is in built in the dimension for margin of shrinking. 2. Mark the exact measurement with a pencil. 3. Cut to size with a sharp blade or scissors. TWO THICKNESS We offer two thickness, 1.5mm and 2mm. 1.5mm is moderate for all furniture tops. 2.0mm looks better, it's the best thickness for kitchen and dining room table. MACHINE CUTTING Most of our sizes are cutted by machine which are largely decreased wrong cutting by manual process. The cover will be slightly bigger than advertised size for margin of shrinking, therefore slight size difference is not qualified as a quality issue. Please use a tablecloth underneath or buy a frosted cover by instead, don't forget to place textured finish on top of table! HOW TO MEASURE? Read more HOW TO GET RID OF THE WAVES? If the pad is not lay flat completely when unroll, please place heavy items on top to make it flat or try to warm it to get flat. A. Lay it out on the table, use a hair dryer to warm it up and then place heavy things like books over it to flatten out wrinkles. B. Lay it out on a flat surface so the sun shown on it for a day with the curl of the plastic down. C. Lay it with the edges curled under then lay heavy items all over on top to make it flat. D.
